Research Scientist

Chunxiu Yu is a research scientist in the Department of Biomedical Engineering working with Dr. Jonathon Viventi and Dr. Warren Grill. Her work in the Viventi’s lab focuses on examining the long-term recording stability of chronically implanted micro-electrocorticography (µECoG) arrays in freely-moving animals. Chunxiu’s work in Dr. Warren Grill’s lab mainly focuses on studying Optogenetic deep brain stimulation (DBS) in rat model of Parkinson's disease (PD). The long term goal of her work is to understand the circuit mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of DBS for PD using a combination of electrophysiology, anatomy, optogenetics and behavior.

Chunxiu graduated from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel with doctoral degree in Neurobiology. Outside of work, Chunxiu enjoys being with her lovely daughters and making Chinese paper-cuts.
